As an SME Underwriter, you will be responsible for providing high-level underwriting services to our broker stakeholders and collaborating with our underwriting and distribution teams to ensure accurate decision-making.

About the Role

  • Providing technical support and leadership to underwriters, ensuring effective coaching and development.
  • Managing SME Account workflows to maintain high service standards for key partners.
  • Identifying new business opportunities while aligning with divisional objectives and portfolio balance for growth and profit.
  • BUILDING AND MAINTAINING RELATIONSHIPS WITH LOCAL BROKERS AND STAKEHOLDERS, ENGAGING FACE-TO-FACE TO FOSTER PARTNERSHIPS AND IMPROVE BUSINESS OUTCOMES.
  • Ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines by making recommendations on risks exceeding authority limits, managing referrals, and seeking process improvements.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in commercial underwriting.
  • A passion for providing quality and responsive services to internal and external customers.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to build relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Adept at proactively building and maintaining professional relationships and networks to enhance industry positioning, exchange knowledge, and elicit beneficial outcomes.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively with good attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with clarity, impact, and influence.

Estimated salary range for this role is between $90,000 to $120,000 AUD per annum, depending on location and experience.
