Governed through a board reporting to the Director-General, eHealth Queensland enhances collaboration between Queensland Health and its Hospital and Health Services, led by a Chief Clinical Information Officer who drives digital transformation. Additionally, eHealth Queensland manages the state's central health data warehouse, supporting comprehensive data analytics.

Job Overview

The Senior Director of Digitally Enabled Business Solutions plays a pivotal role within Queensland Health, focusing on the strategic oversight and delivery of large-scale digital health initiatives. This role ensures alignment with Queensland Health's vision of becoming a high-reliability organisation.

Key responsibilities include managing digital and business projects across 16 Hospital and Health Services, driving advancements in digital infrastructure and service delivery. With a combined budget exceeding $200 million, the Senior Director leads a team of 200 professionals, fostering a collaborative and people-centred culture.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure that all responsibilities align with Queensland Public Service values.
  • Adhere to established service quality standards and occupational health and safety policies.
  • Foster and cultivate a motivated and professional workforce delivering outstanding project outcomes, creating an atmosphere of continuous development and strong collaboration across the team.
  • Implement systems and processes to track project progress, ensuring timely completion, within budget, and meeting quality expectations.
  • Maintain a rigorous and transparent reporting system for all projects, keeping stakeholders informed with accurate and detailed progress reports.
  • Effectively manage budgets and resources, allocating funds and human resources optimally, resolving constraints or issues during project execution.
  • Define and implement strategic approaches ensuring reliable project delivery, meeting scope, timeframes, and quality standards.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Executive Director, Deputy Director-General, and leadership team on risk management, issue resolution, and interdependencies across projects.
  • Cultivate a culture of high performance, communicating clear expectations internally and externally to align with program outcomes.
  • Promote innovative thinking to improve project management practices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and service providers.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you will be an exceptional leader with extensive experience and achievements at a senior level in the Health sector. A strong background in program and project management is essential, including expertise and qualifications to drive positive outcomes on complex projects.

A successful candidate should have high-level communication skills in negotiation, consultation, and written and oral communication. Experience managing vendor relationships and overseeing contractual obligations is critical. Adaptability to various project methodologies based on risk assessment and project purpose is also vital.

This role requires strategic thinking, ethical decision-making, and governance skills to ensure responsible practices. The successful candidate will encourage innovation, gather insights, and adapt new ideas to improve project delivery and outcomes.

Additionally, the role calls for collegial collaboration, supporting other executives in meeting their objectives while working towards the department's broader mission.

The estimated salary range for this role is $180,000 - $220,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
