Mental Health Division Access and Coordination Specialist

About the Role:
The Mental Health Division at Northern Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Nurse to assume the responsibilities of the Bed Access Coordinator. This leadership role is focused on implementing the Mental Health Division's progress plan, which involves the development of innovative and contemporary bed management methodologies.
As the Bed Access Coordinator, you will have a whole of health service view, ensuring optimal access to adult and aged acute local bed stock. Your primary goal will be to ensure timely access to acute mental health inpatient resources, with a focus on person-centred, transparent, and equitable practices, in accordance with the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and Northern Health protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Experience and knowledge of acute care bed-based management
Commitment to fostering a culture of early escalation to resolve bed block and support Northern Health in achieving key access and flow KPIs
Advanced communication and problem-solving skills to ensure access requests are responded to fairly, equitably, and transparently
Experience in participating and leading improvement activities within the Mental Health setting
