Trade Assistant Job Description

As a Trade Assistant, you will be an integral part of our workshop team. You will assist qualified mechanics with repairs and preventive maintenance of ground support equipment. This role offers the opportunity to develop your mechanical skills and work with unique GSE specialized equipment.

">About the Role
  • Assist with minor repairs and servicing of vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform basic welding tasks as needed.
  • Receive, stock, pick up, and deliver spare parts.
  • Pack freight and assist with issuing freight deliveries.
  • Participate in general yard/workshop & equipment cleaning and maintenance.
  • Conduct store duties when required.
  • Provide other general, non-trades services as needed.

You will have the chance to utilize the wide variety of equipment and the unique nature of aviation equipment to bring a diverse collection of knowledge and skills to the role. We offer excellent mentorship and a supportive environment that encourages learning and upskilling.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn and develop.
  • Hold a high school certificate or equivalent; possess one to three months related experience and/or training; or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous mechanical experience is highly desirable.
  • Welding experience is highly regarded.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety standards and relevant company policies & procedures.
  • Exhibit good communication skills and proactiveness.
  • Demonstrate a natural curiosity and passion for learning & upskilling.
  • Display a positive attitude and proactive mindset, with the ability to work autonomously as well as being a good team player.
