Job Description

The Practice Development Nurse – Specialist is a vital role that supports the professional growth of all clinical staff across various settings.

About this Role

This position focuses on ensuring best practice by providing ongoing education and support for all staff, with a particular emphasis on advancing knowledge, skills, and training relevant to the clinical setting.

Main Responsibilities
  • Implement clinically based education using evidenced-based practices to enhance nursing care delivery.
  • Facilitate the development of nursing staff through targeted education programs and clinical guidance.
  • Collaborate closely with NUMs, E&L Coordinators, Managers, educators, preceptors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a consistent, high-quality learning experience across allocated areas.
  • Contribute to the creation of educational resources, policy updates, and best-practice initiatives; incorporating feedback, research, and digital tools to improve program outcomes.
  • Promote reflective practice, maintain clinical expertise, and embody the values of our organization – compassion, integrity, justice, and excellence.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Current Nursing Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Degree in General Nursing meeting the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Postgraduate Qualifications in relevant nursing speciality, preferably a Master's in Advanced Nursing.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Education, Clinical Supervision, or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years of nursing experience.
  • Experience in clinical teaching, clinical supervision, or implementing and facilitating educational programs.
  • Strong learning and development facilitation skills and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
