Maintenance Manager Role

The key responsibilities of this position are multifaceted, encompassing the effective operation of a site to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Leading the Maintenance & Engineering team is essential for ensuring seamless operation and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Oversight of the Operations Improvement Program within the Maintenance/Engineering department is critical for driving continuous growth.
  • Effective management of maintenance activities within allocated resources is vital for achieving organizational goals.
  • Managing weekly maintenance meetings is crucial for facilitating open communication among team members.
  • Ensuring adherence to quality system procedures and supporting the maintenance of ISO9001 and AS5146 accreditation are key aspects of this role.
  • Supporting with annual forecasting and budgeting processes is essential for strategic planning.
  • Managing service contractors to comply with Work Health and Safety (WSHE) requirements is a critical aspect of maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Planning and scheduling maintenance and shutdowns as required is essential for minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
  • Developing an engineering and maintenance strategy, including timeframes for implementing best practice maintenance systems, is crucial for long-term success.
  • Coordinating the maintenance function to optimize the availability and productivity of plant and equipment (OEE improvements) is a key responsibility of this role.
  • Working with key stakeholders to identify and implement operational improvement projects is essential for driving business growth.

Requirements for this role include:

  • Tertiary/formal qualifications in Mechanical (or Mechatronics) Engineering or relevant trade qualifications - not essential, but preferred.
  • Previous experience in Maintenance & Engineering Management within a unionized industrial or complex manufacturing operations environment is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience managing multiple capital projects is essential for successfully leading this team.
  • Exposure to 5s lean principles is beneficial for driving process improvement.
  • Experience in successfully leading Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams, with the ability to drive/improve a strong culture, is crucial for this role.
  • A results-oriented approach, with a strong focus on safety awareness and environmental knowledge, is essential for success in this position.
  • A solid understanding of computerized maintenance management systems (SAP preferred) is necessary for effectively managing maintenance activities.
  • Demonstrable mechanical aptitude and knowledge of a wide variety of equipment are essential for performing this role.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage key stakeholders at all levels, are critical for successful leadership.
  • Resilience, with an ability to work with stakeholders to get the job done safely and to the right standard, is essential for this position.
  • An eye for continuous improvement and motivation to create change to improve processes is vital for long-term success.
