Senior Public Affairs Representative

This is a senior position that requires establishing close working relationships with defence groups, state/territory government organisations and the media.

The role involves coordinating and managing defence public affairs events and initiatives, providing local-level support and management of serious and sensitive issues, and developing communications content to support defence public affairs activities.

  • Maintain a comprehensive awareness of national defence issues and how they translate to the regional level;
  • Provide community relations support to military operations as required;
  • Support senior personnel conduct media engagement and facilitate media training as required;

The Canberra-based position additionally includes management of staff and coordination of media enquiries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Co-ordinate Defence public affairs events and initiatives;
  • Manage Defence public affairs activities;
  • Develop communication content to support Defence public affairs activities;
Requirements:
  • Awareness of national Defence issues;
  • Ability to provide community relations support to military operations;
  • Ability to support senior personnel in media engagement;
