About the Opportunity

Our organization creates supportive living arrangements between trained professionals and children/young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, or abuse. We work together, encouraging them to begin the process of moving through their trauma.

This allows them a safe space to build rapport, form attachments, and feel confident to transition out of survival mode. We foster physical, emotional, social, and psychological well-being to improve their lives and future outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work across a rotating roster (day shifts, evening shifts, including sleepovers and active nights) to provide consistent care for children and young people.
  • Create and maintain a positive therapeutic environment while upholding safety standards for the children and young people in care.
  • Implement the young person's case plan, behaviour support plan, and cultural plan to address their unique needs and goals.
  • Ensure the completion of daily case notes using internal systems to maintain accurate records of the children and young people in care.
  • Contribute to the young person's leaving care plan where applicable.
  • Attend regular team meetings and supervision sessions.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders involved in the care and support of children and young people.
  • Adhere to relevant regulations, acting in accordance with the mandatory reporting guide to ensure the safety and welfare of children and young people.
  • Administer and store medication as required.
  • Adhere to our organization's safety protocols that safeguard both the young people and staff.

Requirements

- Valid NSW Paid Working with Children Check and National Police Check or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.

- Consent to be added to the Residential Care Workers Register.

- Valid first aid certificate or willingness to obtain within 1 month.

- Available to work across a full shift pattern (mornings, evenings, and sleepovers).

- Valid Australian Drivers Licence and access to a vehicle.

- Relevant degree or certification in Community Services, Youth/Social Work, etc.

- Experience working with young people/children.

- Basic knowledge/understanding of trauma highly regarded.

- Knowledge of the out-of-home-care and residential care system highly regarded.

- Experience in other support work-related fields, i.e., disability, mental health, aged care, and child care.
