About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Officer to join our team at Serco's Australian Defence Force Health Services. As a Medical Officer, you will play a critical role in delivering primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide primary medical care to patients in a multidisciplinary team setting, working towards the shared purpose of achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members.
  • Assess Defence personnel for fitness for duty and provide care that supports their health and wellbeing pre and post deployments.
  • Provide medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit (JHU) Commanding Officer (CO), Joint Health Command (JHC) Health Centre Manager, and Commanders of units.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of Senior Medical Officers and uniformed colleagues to deliver high-quality healthcare services.
  • May be required to provide services in either an outpatient setting or inpatient care setting within a ward.

Requirements

  • Current unconditional and unrestricted General registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Vocational Registration.
  • Minimum of 2 years' full-time postgraduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent), GPT Registrar rotations are counted.
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.

Security Clearance

You must be an Australian Citizen to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role.
