About the Role

This is a fixed temporary position to cover an existing role while the incumbent is on maternity leave. The assignment duration is expected to be approximately 8 months with the possibility of extension for another 4 months.

You will be part of an exceptional leadership team driving the continued growth and expansion of our operations across the Glenelg region.

The successful candidate will directly oversee the year-round management of the Portland Leisure & Aquatic Centre as well as three seasonal pools.

Through effective leadership and development of your teams, you will support facility managers and other staff in delivering exceptional customer experiences, positive financial outcomes, and contract deliverables for each facility.

You will develop and implement operational plans through collaboration with the leadership team to ensure consistent quality services and programs are provided to local communities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced leader to drive the delivery of exceptional recreation and leisure experiences.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will require a proven track record in venue management, finance, marketing, sales, and community engagement.

You must also have the ability to continue developing strong relationships with the community, local council partners, and other stakeholders to drive success through the engagement and development of your people.

Inherent in this role is the commitment to ethical practices, fostering strong team motivation, and reinforcing our values to contribute to a positive work culture.

To be considered for this role, you must be a seasoned and professional manager who leads with vision and energy, with extensive experience in commercial/business and contract management preferably from within the leisure, fitness, aquatic or facility management sector.

Key Skills and Attributes
  • Contract management experience
  • Highly developed leadership skills, with experience in building successful teams and developing a high-performance culture
  • Extensive experience in strategic development and execution of operational, financial, and people plans to achieve successful outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience leading a dynamic and complex business operation preferably from within the leisure, tourism, fitness, aquatic, retail, hospitality or facility management industries
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with a flair for positive influencing and negotiating win-win outcomes
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field and/or extensive experience in Centre/Facility Management or senior management experience in a related industry is highly desirable
