Family Support Advocate

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Advocate to join our team in improving the health, learning and social wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.

As a Family Support Advocate, you will work closely with our Paediatric team to build strong relationships with children and families who access our services. You will assist with completing forms and attending appointments, as well as support and build their capacity to navigate external services such as Centrelink and NDIS.

The ideal candidate will possess a warm, respectful approach, genuine care for mob and connection to community. They will have a completed post-school qualification in a relevant field, such as Health or Social Work, and be competent in Microsoft Office and client management systems.

The successful applicant will require a criminal record screening clearance, working with children check and current driver's license. To apply, please submit your current resume and cover letter addressing the selection criteria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with children and families who access our services.
  • Assist with completing forms and attending appointments.
  • Support and build the capacity of families to navigate external services.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team and assist with intake and case management.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in a culturally safe and family centred manner.

Who We're Looking For:

  • A person of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • Someone with a warm, respectful approach.
  • Genuine care for mob and connection to community.
  • Completed post-school qualification in a relevant field (Health, Social Work or equivalent).
  • Competency with Microsoft Office and client management systems.
