Key Role: Solution Architect

We are seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as a Solution Architect, responsible for designing and documenting technical solutions that align with business objectives, architectural principles, and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will play a key role in shaping project outcomes, providing end-to-end architectural guidance, and maintaining high-quality documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Design and document technical solutions for project deliverables and contribute to the organisation's knowledge repository.
  • Conduct thorough systems impact assessments, addressing both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Evaluate solution/product options and conduct holistic analysis to inform architectural recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain architecture artifacts, including solution diagrams, data models, integration designs, decision logs, and technical debt registers.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with established templates and architectural frameworks.
  • Ensure all technology solutions meet architectural principles, data compliance policies, and IT security standards.
  • Follow and contribute to the organisation's solution design methodology and milestones.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, technical specialists, and stakeholders to provide architectural support and guidance.
  • Present solutions to stakeholders, gather feedback, and refine designs accordingly.
  • Own the architectural design throughout the entire project lifecycle, ensuring consistency and alignment.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Solution Architecture roles.
  • Over 3 years of experience in the Electricity Distribution or Transmission sector.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with an Energy Utility in Australia.
  • Strong understanding of technology and business processes related to network billing, customer information systems, meter data and meter management, and NEM market transactions.
  • Experience with key platforms and technologies, including Itron, SAP, and Integration platforms such as WebMethods and Oracle Fusion.
  • Proficiency in integration architecture, API design, and architectural patterns.
  • Skilled in using UML and similar modelling notations for solution design and documentation.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for varied audiences.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills for engaging both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, or Power Systems Engineering.
