Job Title: Technical Lead, Data

The Coates Group is seeking a skilled Technical Lead for our Data team. This role combines technical expertise with leadership and project management skills to ensure the successful delivery of project work.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert technical guidance and make critical decisions on technology stacks, application architecture, and design patterns.
  • Collaborate with solution architects and other technical leads to ensure cohesive application designs and consider the application architecture holistically.
  • Establish and enforce coding standards and best practices, ensuring code reviews and adherence to quality benchmarks.
  • Mentor and support team members, helping them grow their technical skills and advance their careers.
  • Work with technical business analysts and stakeholders to understand project requirements and define appropriate technical solutions.
  • Ensure accuracy of estimates at a story level and drive a high-performing engineering team to deliver according to story estimates agreed.
  • Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, communicating effectively to ensure alignment and resolve issues.
  • Identify potential technical risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Advocate for and implement improvements in processes, tools, and practices, staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Technical Leadership role.
  • 3+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer.
  • 3+ years of experience in successfully leading and developing a high-performing team.
  • Lead and influence technical problem-solving and solution design.
  • Distinguished web development skills across multiple frameworks and AWS/Azure.
  • Knowledge of frameworks, design patterns, and multiple databases including MySQL.
  • Experience with management, deployments, and scaling of cloud-based services (Azure preferable).
  • Experience using software development tools such as Jira, GitLab/GitHub.
