Key Job Details

A Pipe Fitter is required for a challenging role in the Piping team. The successful candidate will apply their piping knowledge to the Maintenance program of the Collins Class submarines, supporting the development and management of ASC's long-term strategy.

This permanent full-time opportunity involves working closely with the Production Piping Supervisor and other teams to achieve quality technical pipe fitting outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Applying piping knowledge to the Maintenance program of the Collins Class submarines
  • Working closely with the Production Piping Supervisor and other teams to achieve quality technical pipe fitting outcomes
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Expertise in reading and interpreting structural drawings
  • A White card
  • A sound knowledge of varied piping and fabrication trade-related techniques
  • Demonstrated expertise in ensuring quality and high technical standards
  • Ideal experience in the Fabrication/Piping of large complex engineering, shipbuilding, and construction projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Pipe Fabrication and Welding Fields
  • Indentured Apprenticeship or Traineeship with a background in Boilermaking/Piping or similar preferably with a post-trade certificate
  • Demonstrated experience in the fabrication/plumbing and Pipe-bending/Pressure Vessels, plate work, and large complex structures
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of all types of fabrication and associated welding processes and their applications
  • Demonstrated experience in using different welding process e.g. Copper Brazing, GMAW, GTAW, MMAW
  • Proven ability to participate in the training and development of apprentices and operators as required
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting continuous improvement strategies across all areas of influence and responsibility
