Cost Control Specialist

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving Primero's cost control activities, working closely with the project teams to ensure projects are delivered within approved costs, schedules, and quality criteria.

This role will involve budget management, expenditure control, and forecasting, as well as reporting financial performance across assigned scopes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Budget establishment and monitoring in cost management software.
  • Schedule and cost alignment via WBS, resources, and activities.
  • Project controls plan development, procedures, and processes.
  • Monitoring and analysing of commitments and actuals for accurate performance.
  • Preparation of project forecasts, detailed analyses, trending, and commentary.
  • Collecting, analysing, and reporting actual and earned hours and trends.
  • Change control monitoring and analysis, with focus on key drivers of deviations.
  • Continuous communication of change impacts through the MOC register.
  • Project reporting deliverables preparation, collation, and delivery.
  • Risk identification and opportunity suggestion, with mitigation strategies.
  • Understanding of agreed scopes, pricing schedule, commercial framework, and reporting obligations.

Your Qualifications:

  • University degree preferred (Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Accounting or similar discipline).
  • AACE / ACES qualification preferred but not essential.
  • Greater than 7 years' experience in cost engineering or cost control is essential, with +2 years in a senior role.
  • Experience in Construction and Engineering, particularly in Resources and Mining industries.
  • Excellent knowledge of Construction methodology for forecasting.
  • Experienced operator of a cost management tool essential.
  • Strong statistical and analytical reporting skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerBI.
