We are seeking a skilled Zone Substation Electrical Specialist to join our team at Essential Energy. As a key member of our Underground Mains team, you will be responsible for the construction and maintenance of Zone Substations, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our network.
Key Responsibilities- Construction and Maintenance: You will be responsible for the construction and maintenance of Zone Substations and Underground Infrastructure, ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest standards.
- Installation and Commissioning: You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and testing of associated Zone Substation and distribution equipment, ensuring that all equipment is functioning correctly and safely.
- Switching Operations: You will be responsible for carrying out switching operations associated with both high and low voltage Engineering Services, ensuring that all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
- Asset Inspection and Reporting: You will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and reporting the nature and condition of Network assets, ensuring that all assets are maintained to the highest standards.
- Computerised Systems: You will be responsible for accessing and using computerised systems to operate remote equipment, ensuring that all systems are functioning correctly and safely.
- Emergency Response: You will be required to be available and participate in emergency after-hours duties, ensuring that the network is maintained safely and efficiently.
- Plant and Equipment Operation: You will be responsible for operating plant and equipment associated with Zone Substations in a safe manner, ensuring that all equipment is functioning correctly and safely.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a trade qualification in Electrical Engineering, a current electrical license, and experience in High Voltage Cable Jointing. You will also need to have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills- VLF Testing and Diagnostic Assessment: Experience in VLF testing and diagnostic assessment of High Voltage Cables would be highly desirable.
- Cable Jointing Experience: Experience in cable jointing at 11kV, 22kV, 33kV, and polymeric XLPE cables would be highly desirable.
- Accreditation in Cable Terminations: Accreditation in cable terminations at Sub-transmission voltages 66kV or above would be highly desirable.
- Diploma in ESI Power Systems: A diploma in ESI Power Systems would be highly desirable.
- Plant and Equipment Licenses: Licenses for plant and equipment such as EWP, Portable Scaffolding, and Bobcat would be highly desirable.
