About the Role

We are seeking an experienced ER Business Partner to join our team at The Next Step. As a key player in the energy sector, you will be responsible for managing risks and resolving complex employee relations issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Case Management: Lead the case management of complex and sensitive employment matters, ensuring fair and just processes and alignment with the Enterprise Agreement, legislation, contract, and policies.
  • Dispute Resolution: Coordinate and facilitate dispute resolution processes, liaising with Union representatives.
  • Representation: Represent The Next Step as an advocate in tribunals or commissions, including in conciliations and smaller matters.
  • Coaching and Development: Coach managers and People & Culture partners to address and resolve sensitive and/or complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary and health management matters.
  • Organisational Change: Support larger organisational changes, including advising and assisting in the management of consultation and redundancy processes.
  • Industrial Strategy: Research and develop advice and options to inform The Next Step's industrial strategy.
  • Risk Management: Support the Employee Relations Manager to manage risks and resolve complex employee relations issues, including collaborating with legal counsel as needed.
  • Industrial Instruments: Support the design, negotiation, implementation, and interpretation of the Enterprise Agreement, other industrial instruments, and associated policies as required.
  • Compliance: Maintain a thorough understanding of employment laws, regulations, and ensure organisational compliance to them.
  • Policies and Procedures: Develop, revise, and communicate policy and procedure changes related to employment relations.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in human resources, Law, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years PQE, preferably in labor law or a related field or Proven experience in an employee relations role.
  • Skills: Excellent understanding of employment law and HR best practices, Strong problem-solving abilities and conflict resolution skills, Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high level of integrity.
