Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the department's legal function, offering expert guidance on complex issues and navigating the department through challenging legal landscapes. They will ensure effective management of legal risks, guide the development of legal strategies, and consider both short- and long-term implications for the department and the broader government context.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic advice provision to senior executives and portfolio Ministers.
  2. Effective management of legal risks across the department.
  3. Development and delivery of tailored legal strategies.

Requirements
This position demands strong knowledge and experience in the field of law, specifically within the context of Australia's agriculture sector. A Senior Executive Service capability for the SES band 2 level is essential, alongside a degree in law, legal practice admission in Australia, and eligibility for an unrestricted legal practising certificate. Furthermore, obtaining and maintaining a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance is a mandatory requirement.
