Boating Education Officer Job Overview

This is an ongoing full-time opportunity to contribute to educating the boating community on safe boating practices, legislation and on-water activities.

The successful candidate will engage in a variety of roles including representing Transport for NSW at key boating locations, educating students in schools, and identifying opportunities to educate the boating community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Representing Transport for NSW at key boating locations and engaging with boat operators, passengers and others interested in boating.
  • Conducting presentations and information sessions aimed at educating the boating community.
  • Assisting with compliance campaigns, management of aquatic activities, audits and incident management to support on-water and other staff.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • A strong understanding of NSW boating legislation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A current NSW Boating Licence or ability to obtain within 3 months.
About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about using education, collaboration and encouragement to influence behaviour. You should have knowledge and experience of NSW boating legislation and be an educator at heart who loves sharing knowledge and interacting with others.

You will also need to have on-water experience and be comfortable establishing yourself as a trusted point of contact with retailers, schools, boating clubs and all recreational water users.
