Financial Support Services Team Leader

The Financial Support Services Team Leader plays a key role in providing holistic telephone-based information and support to empower people affected by cancer.

About the Role

This full-time position requires a highly experienced leader to oversee the day-to-day delivery of financial support services. The successful candidate will lead a team of financial counsellors and capability workers, creating a collaborative and supportive work environment that promotes employee growth, engagement, and satisfaction.

  • Lead a team of financial counsellors and capability workers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and career development.
  • Provide supervision and ongoing learning opportunities for financial counsellors and capability workers.
  • Oversee and contribute to the day-to-day delivery of financial support services, including:
    • Financial Navigation Service: providing information and resources on financial rights and options.
    • Financial Counselling Service: guidance and advocacy with debt management and budgeting.
    • Financial Assistance Service: temporary grants towards bills and everyday expenses.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and develop strategies to enhance the client experience, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of financial support services.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex stakeholder and technical issues, maintaining high levels of stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and service delivery.
  • Be a subject matter expert for financial support services, promoting awareness and understanding through various channels.
  • Support strategic planning, operational coordination, reporting, and budgetary initiatives for financial support services.
Key Requirements
  • Accredited Financial Counsellor with 3-5 years' experience in financial counselling.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience mentoring financial counsellors and capability workers.
  • Strong understanding of the financial counselling industry in NSW and demonstrated networks within the industry.
  • Experience overseeing complex financial counselling support and developing policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
