Policy Officer Job Description

At the NSW Education Standards Authority, we support all school sectors with high-quality syllabuses and teaching standards. As a Policy Officer, you will play a key role in coordinating project implementation and providing project management services.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for planning and coordinating the implementation of projects related to teacher accreditation policies and supporting agency initiatives. The successful candidate will contribute to policy development and implementation through planning and communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the policy development process through planning and communications
  • Provide project management services for the School and Teaching Standards Division Work Program
  • Prepare discussion papers, briefs, and submissions to contribute to policy initiatives
  • Communicate with stakeholders and coordinate working groups to support engagement and policy development

Requirements:

  • Experience in policy writing and drafting briefing notes
  • Awareness of technology and its role in effective work practices
  • Ability to provide secretariat support including scheduling meetings and minute taking
  • High-level secretariat experience with the ability to anticipate events in work programs
