Project Engineer

This role plays a crucial part in the delivery of complex defence and national security projects that ensure Australia's future safety.
About the Project/ProgramThe successful candidate will contribute to the JP9347 project's engineering activities from requirements development and market solicitation to acquisition through to introduction into service, with a focus on safeguarding the nation's future.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting the planning and execution of the project engineering program and participating in engineering engagement with industry as part of a holistic contract management approach.
- Conducting requirements and specification development, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Liaising with internal and external project stakeholders, providing mentoring to junior engineers, and fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Developing engineering advice to project leadership on the engineering program, creating briefings and other formal correspondence to inform project decisions.
- Reviewing and accepting contract deliverables, supporting or executing whole-of-system level certification activities to ensure project success.
- Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent) plus ideally postgraduate qualification(s) in a relevant field, demonstrating expertise in system engineering principles.
- Analysis, design, review, and delivering high-quality engineering documentation to support government approvals and delivery, showcasing attention to detail and technical expertise.
- Initiative, creativity, and responsibility to perform a range and variety of complex technical work activities with limited guidance, driving innovation and results.
- Managing technical and integration risks, applying testing and evaluation techniques across the system development life cycle, ensuring project stability and quality.
- Formal qualifications in communications or other technology specifically relevant to tactical data links, enhancing project coordination and outcomes.
- Understanding of Defence processes and structure, navigating complex project environments with ease.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth.
