Senior Veterinarian

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a dedicated team of professionals as Senior Veterinarian at Taronga Zoo in Sydney.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement preventative medicine programs for the Taronga Zoo animal population.
- Lead a team of veterinarians, vet nurses, and administrative staff to provide day-to-day clinical care for sick or injured animals.
- Oversee veterinary services for Taronga's conservation programs based at the zoo.
- Manage the Taronga hospital budget and team, ensuring efficient operations and compliance with veterinary standards, animal welfare, and legislative requirements.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize staff performance, engagement, and culture.
- Provide expertise during the design and construction phases of a new Taronga Wildlife Hospital.
- Undertake clinical cases, research projects, and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary education and training.
- Tertiary qualifications in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent, with full registration with the Veterinary Surgeon's Board of NSW.
- Board certification preferred.
- International candidates encouraged to apply, with visa sponsorship considered.
- Postgraduate qualifications in zoo and wildlife medicine or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in all aspects of veterinary management of zoo and wild animals, including preventative medicine programs.
- Experience in treating and rehabilitating wildlife, veterinary management of free-ranging wildlife, and veterinary research.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including people management, stakeholder relationships, project coordination, and problem-solving.
