Water Resources Specialist

About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Water Resources Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert guidance and strategic leadership on all aspects of water resource management, including water supply, quality, conservation, and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing authoritative policy and strategic specialist advice on water resource planning and operational policy.
- Leading water resource management submissions to the water resource regulator and negotiating water supply scheme operating arrangements to maximize operational efficiencies.
- Maintaining proactive involvement with the water resource regulator in the review and definition of legislative requirements and leading responses to ensure they are practical and achievable.
- Maintaining the currency and relevance of water entitlements and other authorisations held by Seqwater, in accordance with relevant water supply planning legislation and supporting documentation.
- Advocating on behalf of Seqwater to the regulator for operating conditions that minimize Seqwater's regulatory and operational risk and advance operational efficiency.
- Providing guidance and support in the coordination and education of Seqwater's compliance, monitoring, and reporting obligations under the Water Act 2000.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering.
- Significant experience in water resource management, and in a senior advisory or leadership role.
- An unrestricted C Class Driver's license for vehicles.
- A Master's degree in Water Resources Management, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field (desirable).
