Senior Instrumentation and Controls Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to lead the development, design, and implementation of control and instrumentation systems for new and existing plant operations.
This is a critical position supporting projects at both our Mt Weld Concentrator Plant (including the Expansion Project) and the Kalgoorlie REPF in Western Australia.
The Role- Design, develop, and implement control and instrumentation systems for both new and existing plant operations.
- Specify, procure, install, commission, and maintain control systems and field instrumentation.
- Provide technical support in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and system optimisation.
- Evaluate and ensure compliance with Australian Standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with project managers, process engineers, and external vendors to deliver integrated solutions.
- Manage control system documentation including P&IDs, control narratives, and loop diagrams.
- Support plant system upgrades and strengthen cybersecurity measures.
Candidates should have the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Control Systems Engineering.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards (preferred).
- PLC, DCS, and safety instrumented systems training/certifications (advantageous).
Strong expertise in PLC/DCS systems and functional safety, knowledge of hazardous area classifications and safety standards, advanced knowledge of instrumentation, automation, and process control strategies, strong project management, planning, and coordination skills, excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, and clear and confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills are essential.
