At La Trobe University, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced academic to lead our Enabling Programs team as a Lecturer.

About the Role

This is a full-time continuing position that offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on student outcomes and academic excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of Associate Lecturers and casual staff, overseeing the delivery of our Tertiary Preparation Program (TPP) and Aspire Prepare, and contributing to the development of innovative online learning environments.

About the Team

The Enabling Programs team is part of the Widening Participation and Outreach department, which aims to inform post-secondary school aspiration and access to university students from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds. Our team delivers programs that support students' transition to higher education, including the TPP and Aspire Prepare.

We value collaboration, creativity, and a commitment to student success. Our team members work closely with colleagues across the University, particularly in Admissions, to ensure a seamless student experience.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A PhD degree or equivalent accreditation and standing recognized by the University/profession as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development, and subject coordination in online modes, preferably asynchronous, as evidenced by sustained high results on student feedback on teaching surveys, teaching excellence awards, or through other forms of evidence.
  • Experience working within University policy and procedural environments, including academic administration tasks (grades, subject administration, responding to academic misconduct, etc.).
  • Emerging or established engagement with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, particularly in areas such as supporting academic skill development at the Enabling level and/or effective and innovative online pedagogies and/or supporting the transition to higher education of people from diverse/disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated high-level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively, collaboratively, and productively with staff and students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Proven experience and success in managing academic staff performance and development.
