Environmental Defender Role

We are seeking individuals to contribute their legal expertise to defend the environment in a unique and precious region.

This is an ideal opportunity to contribute to exciting projects, including working with governments and civil society allies, while gaining practical work experience, Practical Legal Training (PLT) hours, and new skills.

To be successful in this role, you will have strong research skills and be enthusiastic about defending the environment. You will receive training and supervision, and gain experience undertaking contract review, provision of small advice on various legal matters, policy work, and advocacy.

About the Project

Australia and the Pacific are under threat from environmental abuse. We investigate and expose environmental crimes, hold decision-makers accountable, promote effective solutions, and inspire others to create positive change.

Requirements

To apply, you must have strong research skills, be enthusiastic about defending the environment, and have available start date. Please ensure your application includes a cover letter and CV. In your cover letter, please include:

  • The details of any relevant qualifications or certifications.

You will learn new skills, strengthen your research capabilities, and get an opportunity to create meaningful change within a safe, inclusive, and collaborative working environment. Our team can also supervise law students undertaking their PLT.
