Job Title: Junior Market Analyst

At REO Group, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Market Analyst to join our Trading and Markets team. As a key player in our team, you will be responsible for developing and executing sophisticated data models to analyze market trends and forecast future behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply complex data models to analyze NEM and ASX Energy Futures markets
  • Create and maintain forecasting models for energy supply and demand factors
  • Design optimisation models to conduct scenario analysis and assess future outcomes
  • Develop real-time alerting and diagnostic tools to support trading strategies
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and dashboards on modelling outputs and market views
  • Contribute to trading ideas and revenue-generating strategies
  • Collaborate with the Market Analysis team and support broader asset development initiatives

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for a candidate with up to 3 years of experience in energy markets, data science, or related fields, or a recent graduate with a strong interest in market analysis. A degree in a STEM discipline or Economics is required, demonstrating a solid foundation in mathematical and analytical skills. Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL is essential for data handling and model development, and experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau will be highly regarded.

Candidates should exhibit a strong curiosity about market dynamics and a passion for solving complex problems through data-driven insights. Excellent analytical skills are crucial, along with the ability to develop, refine, and interpret predictive models that inform trading strategies. The role requires a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving, with a commitment to continuous improvement and staying updated with market trends. Effective communication skills are vital, as the role involves presenting detailed findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
