Job Title: Head of Special Services

This is a key leadership role at a school, responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality advice and support to students with disabilities.

  • Manage and coordinate the delivery of expert advice and support provided by the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program.
  • Lead and manage the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program to provide tailored support to students with disability as needed.
  • Provide high quality advice to school leaders, classroom teachers and other staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating targeted teaching for students requiring intervention.
  • Providing case management support for students who require extensive or substantial adjustments.
  • Supporting classroom teachers and other staff to access external specialist services, professional development and supports as needed.

Key qualities and skills required include:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve goals.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Capacity to manage resources effectively.

To succeed in this role, you should have experience working with students with disabilities and a strong understanding of their needs.
