Job Title:

Chief Cultural Strategy Officer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the quality of program delivery for Indigenous Australians is consistently high and addresses any issues impacting effectiveness.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to staff on cultural awareness, specific to Indigenous Australian needs.
  • Oversee all cultural programs and assessments delivered by QCS to Indigenous prisoners and offenders, ensuring they meet evidence-based standards and guidelines.
  • Implement strategies to improve the cultural safety and supervision for QCS staff working with Indigenous Australians.
  • Collaborate with offender development staff to identify risks in assessment and management, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Ensure the safety and security of self and others, as well as the confidentiality of QCS property and information.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of contemporary offender programs research, practices, legislation, policies, and procedures related to offender management.
  • Provide support to Indigenous staff and non-Indigenous colleagues to enhance their ability to effectively conduct their duties and promote cultural understanding.
  • Offer advice to relevant staff on prisoner/offender program suitability and other intervention activities.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate records and reports for external authorities.
  • Promote the value of Indigenous offender programs through collaboration with internal and external networks, Elder Groups, and Community Justice Groups.
  • Work effectively with other Commands to achieve strategic outcomes.
  • Provide high-level advice to the Director and Assistant Commissioner on Command planning processes.
  • Represent the Agency in negotiations with government agencies and key stakeholders to advance Government priorities and outcomes.
  • Guide consultation with stakeholders to develop policy and implement strategies to progress Indigenous issues that improve business services delivery.

Requirements:

No mandatory qualifications or professional registration requirements are necessary. A degree in psychology, education, social work, criminal justice, or a related field would be highly regarded.
