The RoleWe seek a commercially savvy funds lawyer to join our in-house legal team. The successful candidate will report to and assist the Head of Legal and Compliance with delivering timely, high-quality legal services aligned to the business's strategic and commercial drivers. In addition, the Legal Counsel will collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure the delivery of legal, risk, and compliance obligations.
The Responsibilities- Advise on fund development and maintenance, including establishment, consolidation, and/or decommissioning.
- Manage the legal risks associated with offering documents such as PDSs, IMs, PPMs, TMDs, and Design & Distribution obligations.
- Support the marketing team to ensure marketing plans and materials comply with local and offshore regulations.
- Oversee regulatory compliance under Australian and offshore regulatory requirements.
- Provide transactional support for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Respond to regulatory queries and manage external counsel as required.
- Enhance legal processes by improving precedent documents, investor communications, and governance frameworks.
- Assist the Head of Legal and Compliance with ad-hoc governance projects.
About You
- A minimum of 3-6 years PQE with experience in funds, financial services, or investment management gained in a well-regarded law firm or in-house environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of AFSL obligations, ASIC policy, and Corporations Act requirements.
- Commercial acumen, with the ability to balance legal risk and business strategy in a fast-paced environment.
