Assistant House Supervisor Position Overview

The Assistant House Supervisor role offers a fantastic opportunity to advance your career in residential care. This position plays a crucial part in ensuring the daily well-being and safety of young people residing in our care.

As an Assistant House Supervisor, you will assume responsibility for overseeing the daily activities of young people when the House Supervisor is not present or unavailable. You will work closely with residential care workers to provide high-quality support and ensure the home environment remains safe, healthy, and harmonious.

This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to apply therapeutic techniques effectively. Your key responsibilities will include guiding and supervising residential care workers, promoting best practices, and maintaining a smooth operation within the home.

To succeed in this position, you will need demonstrated experience working in residential care, particularly in a therapeutic environment. Leadership experience is preferred but not essential.

Key Selection Criteria

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • A deep understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, as well as awareness of current issues affecting Aboriginal children, young people, and their families.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a diploma, along with substantial experience in residential care, including four additional mandatory competencies (Residential Care Skillset/Top Up Units).
  • Demonstrated expertise and knowledge in residential care, particularly within a therapeutic setting.
  • Proven ability to supervise, lead, and support a team of residential care workers.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to relate to and engage with young people exhibiting social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective behavioral management programs for children and adolescents with challenging behaviors.
