Job Summary

The Strategy team is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to fill a role focused on increasing economic growth, employment, investment, government infrastructure, and services in Mandurah.

We are looking for someone who wants to be part of an innovative and supportive team, apply their knowledge and background to exciting new challenges, and make a meaningful impact on our community.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Increase awareness of Mandurah as an attractive investment location.
  • Facilitate the delivery of economic development strategies in Mandurah through designated projects, programs, research, and analysis.
  • Lead and support projects and programs to improve skill development, higher education, and employment outcomes in Mandurah.
  • Target key sectors identified through Transform Mandurah research and other endorsed plans.
  • Develop strategies, business cases, and strategic plans to develop those sectors.
  • Attract government commitment, support, and funding.
  • Liaise with public and private sector partners to ensure coordination of activities.
Requirements:
  • Relevant degree/qualification.
  • Current unrestricted C-class national driver's license.
  • Demonstrated professional experience of at least 3 years in economic or business development, private investment attraction, and/or delivery and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Experience in working with the business sector and understanding of factors affecting business growth (desirable).
  • Experience in working with the human capital sector and understanding of key issues and opportunities in skill development, higher education, and employment pathways (desirable).
  • Sound understanding of the business development and investment process, financial reporting, and key factors driving regional economic growth.
  • Able to build relationships internally and externally to further the reputation and success of Mandurah.
  • Research, analytical thinking, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to discuss, articulate, and challenge business plans and options.
  • Knowledge of Australian and State Government grant funding program.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivating, outcomes-focused.
