Student Counselling Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Student Counselling Specialist to join our educational team. As a key member of our wellbeing team, you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional and social development of students across both primary and secondary levels.

Job Description:
  • Provide high-quality counselling services to students, addressing their academic, personal, and career goals, while also supporting those at risk of disengagement.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop effective strategies for student wellbeing, including risk assessments, crisis intervention, and case management.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Counselling Services: Deliver individual and group counselling sessions, providing support for students' emotional and social needs.
  2. Risk Assessments and Crisis Intervention: Conduct thorough risk assessments and intervene in crises situations to ensure student safety and wellbeing.
  3. Case Management: Develop and implement effective case plans to support students' progress and achievement.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an Australian Counselling Association approved qualification in counselling or youth work.
  • Current membership with a relevant professional association for psychology, counselling, social work, or youth work.
  • Proven experience counselling children and adolescents in an educational or youth-focused setting.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and/or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
