About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Food Services Assistant to join our team at Southern Cross Care. As a Food Services Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality food services to our residents, ensuring their nutritional needs are met and their dining experience is enjoyable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals for residents, visitors, and staff
  • Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, inventory, and quality control
  • Report resident feedback on meal satisfaction and make recommendations for improvement
  • Work collaboratively with other staff to provide person-centered food services and supports
  • Support residents in making their own food decisions, in conjunction with nursing staff

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a food handling role
  • Sound best practice food handling skills
  • Adequate communication skills and a good level of English literacy
  • Ability to speak in a manner that older people can understand
  • Sound manual handling skills
  • Good time management and ability to work independently
  • Basic understanding of dementia support requirements
  • Current and unrestricted South Australian driver's license
