About the Role

Ausenco is a leading consulting and project delivery company with a strong presence in the mining and minerals industry. We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Engineer to join our team in Central Queensland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing project cost performance, tracking expenditures, and forecasting future costs to support budget management and financial planning. They will also mentor and support junior project controls staff, monitor project progress, and identify potential risks and delays.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze project cost performance and track expenditures to support budget management and financial planning.
  2. Mentor and support junior project controls staff to foster their professional development and ensure consistency and accuracy in project controls practices.
  3. Monitor project progress and identify potential risks and delays to propose mitigation strategies and maintain project momentum.
  4. Perform quantity surveying to audit project progress.
  5. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather relevant data and inputs for project controls activities.
  6. Prepare regular reports and presentations on project performance to provide insights and recommendations to project teams and clients.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Project Controls Engineer with a strong background in project management, cost management, and data analysis. The ideal candidate will have a degree in engineering, data management, or a related field, and proven experience in a similar position within project controls.

Requirements:

  1. Degree in engineering, data management, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in a similar position within project controls, preferably in the mining and minerals industry or related sectors.
  3. Proficiency in project management software such as MS Excel, Oracle, EcoSys, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent.
  4. Advanced data analysis and reporting skills, with expertise in applications such as Power Pivot and Power BI.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  6. Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and guide team members toward common goals.
  7. Knowledge of mining industry regulations, standards, and best practices is desirable.
  8. Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Cost Professional (CCP) are a plus.
