Cyber Security Leadership Role
Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Director to lead the protection and safeguarding of our information and systems across various areas, including application security, cyber governance, identity management, penetration testing, platform development, security engineering, threat hunting/purple teaming, and vulnerability management.
Key Responsibilities- Lead technical capability to deliver expert, contemporary cyber security services while building a strong foundation of trust and confidence in our digital environment.
- Take on a leadership role in one or more areas within the branch: cyber security operations, governance, strategy, or program portfolio management.
- Drive change and continuous improvement in our cyber resilience capabilities, while managing threats and risks to safeguard our people, information, assets, and services.
- Ensure appropriate security standards and IT security controls are implemented in accordance with the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
- Propose and implement new security capabilities to meet organisational requirements, strategic objectives, and ensure compliance with government security policies.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and IT service providers to ensure compliance with legislative, contractual, and organisational policy obligations.
- Develop robust policy and strategic advice that supports adherence to security frameworks and protects our and taxpayer information.
- Lead and deliver cyber education and awareness initiatives to foster a positive security culture across the organisation and the APS.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience in cyber security leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of application security, cyber governance, identity management, penetration testing, platform development, security engineering, threat hunting/purple teaming, and vulnerability management.
- Ability to drive change and continuous improvement in cyber resilience capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and IT service providers.
