Job Title: Technical Officer

Edith Cowan University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Officer to join our Specialist Technical Services Team within the School of Arts and Humanities.

Job Summary:

The Technical Officer will provide technical support to staff and students within the School, ensuring a safe and effective customer-focused service that aligns with the school and university's strategic and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide general technical support to staff and students, including troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Contribute to ensuring a clean, functional, healthy, and safe work environment and learning spaces.
  • Assist staff and students with accessing equipment, facilities, and materials as required.
  • Provide technical advice and instruction to students, and assist with demonstrating the use of various equipment, techniques, processes, materials, and skills related to their learning.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of specialist technical documentation resources to support teaching and learning, facility and equipment maintenance, and safe work practices.
  • Participate in process review initiatives, planning activities, and professional development activities to continuously improve services to the school and its staff.
Requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in screen production or broadcasting, or equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training, or professional accreditation.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency with editing software such as Adobe Premiere and DaVinci Resolve.
  • Experience operating a range of media production equipment, including digital cinema cameras, lighting equipment, grip equipment, and audio recording equipment.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills and experience with computers and media production equipment.
  • Customer service experience is desirable.
