
Child Protection Specialist

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing works to create equal opportunities for all Victorians.
Our areas of focus include child protection, housing, disability, family violence prevention, multicultural affairs, LGBTQI+ equality, veterans, women and youth.
We work in community-based settings across metropolitan, rural and regional Victoria.
The Advanced Child Protection Practitioner is responsible for receiving and assessing reports of alleged abuse and neglect of children and young people.
They undertake investigations and develop plans to ensure the safety, stability and development of children and young people.
This may involve taking matters to court.
The role includes:
1. Risk assessment and analysis: gathering information to identify and plan for risks relating to each situation.
2. Case planning review and case management: formulating and reviewing case plans, coordinating with other agencies and services.
3. Critical enquiry: investigating issues using evidence-based frameworks and understanding root causes and potential implications.
Vaccination requirements apply and applicants must be Australian citizens or have relevant work permits.
To succeed in this role, you will need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You will also need to be able to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
A high level of discretion and confidentiality is required when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
