About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Designer to join our business on a full-time basis. Reporting to our Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in creating detailed technical drawings and documentation, with a focus on the design of buoyancy mould tooling for a variety of projects within the resources, civil, and defence sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of technical documents, such as proposal drawings, operation manuals, test plans, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Maintaining clarity and precision in technical information and providing clear manufacturing instructions.
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver exceptional service and manage project expectations.
  • Serving as a point of contact for technical design inquiries.
  • Supporting the Quality team in inspecting manufactured components.
  • Ensuring adherence to applicable standards in all design activities.
  • Implementation of rigorous document control procedures to ensure traceability and currency of all technical documentation.
  • Participation in the FMEA process.
  • Conducting testing on prototypes and analysing test data.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in Mechanical Design.
  • Qualifications in drafting, engineering, or mechanical trade background.
  • Proficiency in preparing 3D models and drawings using Solidworks.
  • Experience working with the Resource sector.

Desirable Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in composite product design.
  • Knowledge of applicable drafting standards.
  • Ability to work autonomously and handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
