Job Summary:

Industrial Light & Magic is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lighting Technical Director to join our team. As a key member of our Lighting Department, you will be responsible for producing high-quality lighting and rendering for complex shots in high-end photo-realistic visual effects films.

We are looking for a creative and innovative individual who can work independently and as part of a team to achieve the highest quality work. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of lighting techniques, color theory, and rendering systems, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and create lighting and rendering solutions for complex shots
  • Collaborate with the Lighting Team, Supervisors, and other departments to achieve the desired look and meet deadlines
  • Develop and maintain efficient rendering set-ups to optimize render farm usage
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest lighting and rendering technologies and techniques
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior artists
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics or equivalent experience
  • Advanced lighting and rendering experience in a VFX environment
  • Excellent knowledge of Renderman and/or other unbiased rendering systems
  • Strong understanding of color theory and lighting techniques
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
