Job Summary:

Industrial Light & Magic is seeking a highly skilled Lighting and Rendering Technical Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Visual Effects department, you will be responsible for producing high-quality lighting and rendering for complex shots in high-end photo-realistic visual effects films.

We are looking for a creative and innovative individual who can work independently and as part of a team to achieve the highest quality work. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of lighting techniques, color-space, and physically plausible shading techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and create lighting and rendering for complex shots in high-end photo-realistic visual effects films
  • Work closely with Lighting Supervisors and CG Supervisors to determine the best approach to solving CG challenges and developing the final look
  • Collaborate with the Lighting Team to ensure the highest quality work and meet deadlines
  • Develop and maintain efficient rendering set-ups to optimize render farm usage
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics or equivalent
  • Experience of real-world lighting and photography
  • Demonstrable advanced Lighting and Rendering experience within a VFX environment
  • Previous experience performing Look Development tasks
  • Excellent knowledge of Renderman and/or other unbiased rendering systems
  • Knowledge of Katana, Maya, and/or Zeno beneficial
  • Strong understanding of Linux-based operating systems
