About The Service

The Psychological Trauma Service (PTS) aims to provide a holistic, flexible, curious, and empowering space that collaborates with the person and their support network to understand their distress and choose how to pursue recovery.

As a Senior Carer Peer Worker, you will play a critical role in providing peer support to carers and families who have a relative or friend receiving treatment from our community programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide peer support to carers and families through regular sessions and check-ins
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary treating teams to develop and implement treatment plans that meet the unique needs of each family
  • Support carers and families to access resources and services that promote recovery and well-being
  • Participate in regular professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Lived experience of supporting someone through mental health challenges is essential
  • Formal qualifications such as Certificate IV in Peer Work, Cert IV in Mental Health, or other peer workforce experience may be beneficial
  • Minimum 2 years working in a Carer Lived Experience role is required
  • Australian working rights are necessary
  • Current Victorian Driver's License is required
  • Current Working with Children Check and willingness to undergo a Background Check are also required
