Job Overview


We are seeking a seasoned Communications Specialist to join our dynamic team. This exciting opportunity will see you play a pivotal role in shaping the global presence of one of our flagship international research programs.

As a key member of our communications function, you will lead the design and delivery of bold, strategic communications that bring our transformative work to life across multiple jurisdictions.

You will work closely with senior researchers, policy leaders, community partners, and international collaborators to develop integrated communication and engagement strategies that elevate our program's impact on a global stage.

With a high level of autonomy, you will oversee a nimble communications function and play a central role in amplifying research outcomes, sharing powerful human stories, and driving connection across diverse audiences.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead strategic communications for the program that elevate its visibility and global reputation, ensuring alignment with institutional branding and partner priorities.
  • Manage the creation and delivery of high-impact content across digital and print platforms that translates complex research into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Provide high-level communication advice and support to senior leaders to strengthen policy engagement, media positioning, and the program's institutional reputation.
  • Lead international communications coordination with in-country teams to ensure consistency of messaging and strengthen regional relevance.
  • Oversee digital engagement and performance to inform content strategy and optimize audience reach through data and analytics.
  • Coordinate external service providers to deliver polished, high-quality communications outputs within scope and budget.
  • Foster internal communication and team cohesion through engaging, inclusive communication practices that support our diverse, global team.
  • Act as a key liaison for strategic stakeholder engagement, working closely with Monash stakeholders and global partners to maximize visibility and alignment.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic communications plans.
  • Strong understanding of digital media and analytics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
  • Highly developed problem-solving and project management skills.
