We are seeking an experienced Disability Inclusion Officer to join our team. As a key member of our community engagement efforts, you will work closely with people with disabilities, families, local governments, and community groups to identify and address barriers to access and inclusion.
Your primary responsibility will be to lead and develop local projects in collaboration with community stakeholders through a project management approach. This will involve working with diverse groups, including First Nations, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, and LGBTIQA+ communities, to assist them in accessing, preparing for, and benefiting from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
You will ensure the sustainability of projects by building relationships and capacity-building within the community. This may involve collaborating with local organizations, businesses, and government agencies to develop sustainable solutions to the barriers identified by people with disabilities.
To succeed in this role, you will need to have demonstrated relevant experience and/or lived experience with people with disabilities or First Nations or CaLD or LGBTIQA+. You should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have:
