Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to lead our Custodial Mental Health team at Long Bay Hospital.

About the Position

This is a leadership role which has a line management responsibility for clinical operations and oversees the delivery of specialist mental health nursing services. The position holder will work within our network and NSW Ministry of Health policies, procedures, and guidelines as well as relevant Corrective Services NSW legislation, regulations, and policies.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of nurses to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure safe and effective practice
  • Collaborate with clinicians, managers, and other stakeholders to achieve organizational goals
  • Manage and monitor staff performance, including clinical practice, professional conduct, and professional development
  • Incident management and reporting systems within a quality improvement and governance framework

  • Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Significant recent clinical experience in a mental health setting and tertiary qualification in health management or working towards or a combination of study
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and ability to liaise and negotiate with clinicians, managers, staff, and other key stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage and monitor staff performance across all domains including clinical practice, professional conduct, and professional development
  • Proven ability in incident management and reporting systems within a quality improvement and governance framework
