Clinical Leadership Opportunity in Mental Health

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Staff Specialist Psychiatrist to join our team as a Clinical Director. The successful candidate will be part of a highly committed consumer-centred team, working at an award-winning community hospital.

The Clinical Director reports to and works in collaboration with the Service Director, with the role also professionally accountable to the District Clinical Director. This position provides strong leadership vision, advocacy for, and understanding of, the healthcare needs of the community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing medical leadership and collaborating with a multidisciplinary health care team to develop and maintain mental health services of the highest possible quality and safety.
  • Delivering a consumer-focused healthcare service that meets the needs of the community.
  • Leading and managing a team of staff specialists, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across multiple sites.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registration or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (FRANZCP) and/or equivalent specialist recognition.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance and quality improvement processes associated with mental health services.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership experience at a senior level, relevant to the role, including strong knowledge of medical workforce training, credentialing, and supervisory processes.
  • Proven capacity and/or experience in providing high-quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice and participation in quality improvement activities.
  • Commitment to teaching, with experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as other hospital staff.
