About the Role:

This is a Permanent Full-time role based in Sydney, offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced News Reporter to be at the forefront of a news brand across a powerful multi-platform network. You will be responsible for pitching, researching, and producing original high-quality news stories for broadcast, working under tight deadlines to deliver clear, accurate, and engaging TV news content.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pitch and produce original high-quality news stories for broadcast.
  • Work under tight deadlines to deliver clear, accurate, and engaging TV news content.
  • Report live on breaking news events.
  • Take the lead on complex news stories from concept to broadcast with minimal supervision.
  • Proactively source and line up stories ensuring comprehensive and dynamic coverage.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong news judgment and a deep understanding of the TV news landscape.
  • Exceptional communication skills both on-air and behind the scenes.
  • Highly motivated to cultivate contacts and not afraid to pick up the phone.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick, accurate editorial decisions.
  • Proven track record in television news reporting.
  • In-depth knowledge of local, national, and international current affairs.
  • Proficiency in non-linear editing systems and experience in TV news production.
  • Flexibility to work across different shifts including weekends to meet newsroom demands.
  • Strong grasp of media law and its application in news reporting.
