Role OverviewMaitland High School is a comprehensive high school serving a diverse community with high academic expectations. The school fosters a supportive environment where all students feel empowered to achieve their best.To drive academic excellence, we use explicit teaching strategies to build strong foundations in literacy and numeracy. This enables students to engage in society as confident, independent citizens.The school has 942 students. While 6% have a non-English speaking background, only 2% require EAL/D support. Seventeen percent identify as having an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background. Students participate in a wide range of learning experiences through our broad curriculum.Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the current and new Mathematics Curriculum Years 7-12, including Mathematics Extensions 1 and 2.
  • Lead initiatives addressing whole school strategic directions and foster positive relationships across the school.
  • Design and implement high quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs and assessments engaging and supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Design and lead whole school numeracy improvement using external and internal data sources.
Requirements
  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
  • Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage performance of individuals and teams.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies.
