Job Title: Clinical Addiction Specialist

  • The clinical addiction specialist provides an efficient assessment, triage, information, counselling and referral service for individuals with alcohol and other drug related problems. They also provide information and counselling to their family and significant others.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess and develop project briefs, plans, and recommendations in relation to appropriate project milestones.
  2. Provide advice on systems and processes for independent project assurance, including design of Stage Gate Review processes.
  3. Support risk identification and evaluation workshops to support strategic risk management.
  4. Monitor and provide advice on the delivery of benefits realisation plans and KPIs for projects and programs.
  5. Identify performance outcomes, set priorities, plan and schedule work to achieve objectives and meet deadlines within a context of competing work demands/priorities and tight time frames.

Requirements:

  1. Assist the ADIS Manager in workload management each shift as well as in clinical and education activities.
  2. Refer clients into the most appropriate service to meet their needs.
  3. Maintain a learning culture by being a resource person, encouraging reflection and professional development, and assisting others to maintain portfolios/records of learning.
  4. Contribute to projects or programs aimed at attaining DASSA's corporate goals and objectives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  2. Post-registration qualification in Mental Health Nursing.
  3. Postgraduate qualifications in addictions, substance use disorders or related areas, or the willingness to undertake further study in these areas.
